King's Daughters: A Chilling Tale of Survival and Sisterhood (2026)

WTFilms has secured the worldwide rights for Pascal Plante's upcoming historical survival drama, 'King's Daughters'. This film, set in 1663, tells the story of a cursed transatlantic voyage, where a group of orphan virgins, including a 13-year-old, are sent to be married off in the faltering colony of New-France (now Quebec). The journey is plagued by promiscuity, disease, a superstitious crew, famine, vermin, apathy, and death, setting the stage for a gripping tale of survival and oppression. The cast includes Sandrine Bonnaire, Laurie Babin, Lauréna Thellier, Zoé Adjani, and newcomer Marguerite Champoux.

Plante, known for his previous works such as the cyber-thriller 'Red Rooms', the punk rom-com 'Fake Tattoos', and the sports drama 'Nadia, Butterfly', is set to direct this film. The production is a collaboration between Dominique Dussault from Nemesis Films, Stephanie Morissette from La Maison de Prod, and Caroline Bonmarchand from Avenue B, marking Dussault's sixth collaboration with Plante. The film's production began in Montreal, Canada, in March and will resume in St-Malo, France, in June, with a planned release date of 2027.

Plante expressed his excitement about the partnership with WTFilms, praising their genre-bending and eclectic catalog. Dussault, Morissette, and Bonmarchand, as three women producers, highlighted the film's themes of female solidarity, survival, oppression, and resilience, resonating with contemporary audiences and offering a glimpse into the origins of sisterhood. The film has already been sold in France to Tandem and in Canada to Entract.

This project is a testament to the changing landscape of film production, where women's contributions are increasingly recognized and celebrated. 'King's Daughters' promises to be a powerful and thought-provoking addition to the genre, blending historical drama with elements of folk horror and a strong focus on female empowerment.
